Natural fissures (a visible separation along stone boundaries) are not considered as defects. All granites contain some degree of fissures. Some granite slabs have many fissures that can lead to cracking and breakage and require a mesh backing to reinforce the stone slab. Many stones are sold with a mesh backing that holds it together for fabricating and shipping reasons. The mesh backing is a sure sign that while the stone is very attractive, it is weak as well. It may be necessary for repairs to be made during the fabrication or installation process to repair broken or weak sections of the granite. All necessary repairs will be made at the discretion of CGD and will not be considered cause for replacement. CGD reserves the right to refuse to fabricate and install any slabs that you select from a third-party supplier due to the stones structural integrity.
